In an article I read today in the St. Paul Pioneer Press (in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA) entitled United Nations says lag in addressing climate woes costly, the author, Justin Gillis of the New York Times, indicated that the United Nation is really upset with Nations that have “dragged their feet” in addressing climate change. Gillis wrote that according to a draft U. N. report, “the situation has grown critical and the risk of severe economic disruption is rising…Another 15 years of failure to limit carbon emissions could make the problem virtually impossible to solve with current technologies.”
Gillis went on to write that “while the spread of technologies like solar power and wind farms might give the impression of progress, the report said, such developments are being overtaken by rising emissions from fossil fuels over the past decade, especially in fast growing countries like China.”
While these U.N. reports I’m sure are factual, most true Christians, like myself, aren’t worried. We will not shirk our responsibilities to do all we can to reduce emissions, but at the same time we know the future for this planet.
Soon, very soon, things on this earth will get extremely worse, and then no technology we can invent will come close to dealing with the problem. I’m talking about increased natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, increased fire storms, floods; and there will be more and more violence. This will continue until the end of the earth as we know it—especially during the last seven years, which the Bible calls “the tribulation” or “the great tribulation” (Matthew 24:24:21, 29; Revelation 7:14).
Then, at the end, when all nations will come together to battle, the Lord Jesus Christ will come in His glory and He will judge and kill all the evil ones—all those who do not truly believe in Him. He will then begin His glorious Kingdom on a renewed earth (Rev. 19:19-20:6). Things will be so different then. I don’t know how, but since people will live for hundreds of years, as they did long ago, this suggests that God will clean up the atmosphere; and I believe He will devise a way so that there will no longer be a climate problem or a problem with air pollution.
