- Idols and false worship will be removed. Zechariah 13:2 says,
“And it will come about in that day,” declares the Lord of hosts, “that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land.”
God will no longer allow any false religions and cults to exist, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormonism, Atheism, Evolution, Freemasonry, the New Age Movement, Roman Catholicism, Transcendental Meditation, Satanism, the Occult, and all other such things. And as the verse I quoted above says, God will remove even the memory of these false religions and their prophets. I’m sure that secretly some, in their sin, will create all kinds of idols in their mind, but God will not allow any false religion to be established. All public teaching will be from Christ and His Word.
- The Holy Spirit will fill the Earth
With Satan and all false religions and worship removed, I can imagine that this will give the Holy Spirit so much more freedom to move around on the earth and to bring God’s will to many hearts and souls.
- God in Christ will bring a demonstration to all people that He is sovereign
We don’t know all the miracles and mighty works that Christ will do in the millennium, but in all that He does, whether it is to comfort those who believe in Him or to punish those who rebel against Him, all will see how awesome His power is, and no one will dare to come against Him. In fact, all people (whether they truly believe in Him or not) will bow down to Him in allegiance to Him (Isa. 45:23-24).
- All churches or places of worship will be of the same denomination
Since people will still have a sin nature, I’m sure that if they were left to their own choices, there would be many different church denominations—as there are now. But since the millennial kingdom will be a theocratic kingdom, people will not have that choice. Christ will make all the decisions as to what is taught, and possibly even how worship services are to be implemented.
- There will be yearly visits to Jerusalem
In that day everyone (or perhaps a delegation from every nation) will be required to pilgrimage to Jerusalem once a year at the time of the Feast of Tabernacles. Both the yearly trip to Jerusalem and the celebration of the feast, I think will bring a wonderful social and spiritual unity to the world. I’m sure it will be a marvelous experience, and I think many will look forward to this grand celebration from year to year (Zech. 14:16-17).
- There will be a restoration of a pure language
In Zephaniah 3:9 it says, “For then I will give to the peoples purified lips, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord, to serve Him shoulder to shoulder.”
Many believe that this “pure language” indicates that there will be a restoration of a universal language as it was before the tower of Babel. Others, however, think that “pure language” refers to a purification of speech, due to an inward cleansing of the heart and life from sin. Either way, this pure language will contribute to unity and a unified worship (Isa. 45:22-24; 52:10; Zeph. 3:9; Zech. 13:2; 14:16).
