In Matthew 16:27 Jesus Speaks of His Second Coming and Judgment

Jesus with disciples

In the context of this verse (with Mark 38 and Luke 9:26-27), Jesus is speaking to His disciples about His own impending suffering and death, and that they will also have to suffer for Him; that indeed, in order to be true believers they have to be willing to die for Him. He then begins telling Him that in the future, He will come back in the glory of His Father, with the angels, and will judge every man to see if his deeds reveal that he is a true believer. The language Jesus uses here when speaking of His coming is the same as in Mathew 25:31, where He speaks of the sheep and the goats judgment.  Thus this is no doubt the second phase of His coming.

Matthew 16:27

For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and will then recompense every man according to his deeds.
